I first met John when he was writing for Demetri Martin. I thought he was 12 and must be some sort of genius. I saw him perform with Nick Kroll around the time he was hired as a writer at SNL and realized he was indeed a genius. His comedy was so sharp. Then we started writing together. His ability to come up with the clearest, economic, yet original jokes was astounding. He’s so fast. I’ve had the honor to work with people like Trey Parker, Tina Fey, Larry David, and he’s in that camp. John’s one of those guys who is just born with it. He had no choice but to be the funniest guy in the room.
